Phonics

We teach Phonics using RWI and 'Letters and Sounds'. We start of by teaching the single sounds and then start introducing digraphs {2 letters 1 sound} and trigraphs {3 letters 1 sound}. The children use their phonic knowledge to segment and blend - sounding out and reading words. We also teach tricky words {red or sight words}. These are words we can not segment and blend and just have to know them!
