Our Eco Warriors!

At Alexander First School we have a fantastic group of children who are our Eco Warriors. Two children are elected from each class and they attend at least one Eco Meeting every half term. The Eco Warriors have a range of responsibilities in their classrooms and throughout school.

Tree Planting in Victoria Park

Thanks to the Woodland Trust our School recently received nearly 400 trees to plant in Victoria park on the Broom Farm Estate. The children of Year 3 and 4 were very excited to get involved with the local community and learn about how growing our own little woodland would protect and create a new home for local wildlife. The children enjoyed digging the holes, getting their hands dirty and then sitting back to marvel at all their hard work! 

We would like to thank the parents who came to help us and Jason from the Braywick Nature Centre for showing us the correct way to plant the trees! 

Reducing waste at Alexander

At Alexander First School we are reducing our waste by collecting our fruit waste and putting it in special food bins so that it can be taken to our garden and turned into compost!

Every classroom will soon have a fruit waste monitor.

We also have recycling bins in our classrooms and scrap paper draws so we learn not to waste paper!
